What does a banksman do?
A banksman (vehicle marshal) guides vehicle movements where the driver's visibility is restricted - reversing, loading bays and site traffic routes - using standardised signals to prevent collisions and crush injuries.
Is banksman training a legal requirement?
HSE guidance on workplace transport (HSG136) expects employers to manage reversing risks, and trained signallers are a recognised control measure. After a vehicle-related incident, evidence of banksman training is one of the first things inspectors ask for.
How long does a banksman course take?
Half a day to one day depending on group size and site complexity. We deliver RTITB-accredited banksman training at your site or our Nuneaton centre.
