Fire door qualifications
Level 3 Award in Fire Door Inspection
The professional qualification for fire door inspectors. Nine modules covering fire science, legislation, BS EN 1634-1, component inspection, defect classification and compliant reporting.
Level 3 Award in Fire Door Installation
Correct, compliant installation: scope of test, frame fitting, threshold detailing, seals, hardware and documentation under Approved Document B and BS 8214:2016.
Level 2 Fire Door Maintenance
For maintenance teams and contractors: compliant repairs, acceptable replacement components, and when a door must be referred for replacement instead.
Regulation 10 Fire Door Awareness
For Responsible Persons in residential buildings over 11 metres: quarterly communal checks, annual flat entrance door checks, resident information and record-keeping.

Why fire door training matters more than ever
Since 2017 a run of new legislation has raised the duty of care on building owners, managers and the professionals who inspect their buildings.
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order
Puts the duty to manage fire safety on the Responsible Person. Article 17 requires fire safety measures, including fire doors, to be kept in efficient working order and good repair.
Building Safety Act and Fire Safety (England) Regulations
Introduced three-monthly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks in buildings over 11 metres, alongside a much stronger focus on the competence of people doing safety-critical work.
Competence you can evidence
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours. Duty holders are expected to show that people working on fire doors are competent, and an NFAQ certificate is verifiable evidence of the knowledge part.

Frequently asked questions
Who needs fire safety training at work?
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires every employer to give staff adequate fire safety training at induction and regularly thereafter, with additional training for nominated fire wardens.
How many fire wardens does my workplace need?
It depends on your fire risk assessment - premises size, layout, occupancy and shift cover. A common rule of thumb is at least one warden per floor or department, with cover for absences.
What fire door qualifications do you offer?
NFAQ awards in fire door installation (£249), maintenance (£180) and inspection (£289) - online qualifications aligned to current legislation and British Standards for anyone working with fire doors.
