About This Course

Our Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health course is designed for individuals who want to become Mental Health First Aiders in their workplace. Unlike the Level 1 awareness course, this qualification gives you the practical skills to actively support someone experiencing a mental health issue or crisis.

Throughout the course, you'll develop confidence in recognising the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions, learn how to start supportive conversations, and understand when and how to guide someone towards professional help. You'll also learn how to manage your own wellbeing while supporting others.

Workplace Recommendation: The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommends that employers provide mental health support in the workplace. Having trained Mental Health First Aiders demonstrates your commitment to employee wellbeing and helps create a supportive workplace culture where people feel able to talk about mental health.

What Does a Mental Health First Aider Do?

A Mental Health First Aider is a point of contact for anyone experiencing a mental health issue or emotional distress. Unlike mental health professionals, you won't diagnose or treat conditions—instead, you provide initial support, listen non-judgementally, and help guide the person towards appropriate professional help. Think of it like physical first aid: you're there to help in the moment and bridge the gap until professional support is available.

Qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider. You'll learn practical intervention skills, crisis response, and how to actively support someone experiencing mental health difficulties.

This course is accredited by NFAQ (National First Aid Qualifications). Your Level 2 First Aid for Mental Health certificate is recognised by employers, insurers, and regulatory bodies throughout the UK.

CPC Courses are, at best boring and at worse not worth the money. Now that I have completed my 5 modules, 4 of which were with Andrew, who has a special way of getting the point of some things into my head, believe me that is no small feat. I have thoroughly enjoyed all modules that NCT arranged for me, plus the fact it is now done via Zoom just helped me to remember it. The whole experience was so simple, right from booking a full 5 day course, to today, where I can say 'no more til next year' same place, different dates.
I wouldn't hesitate to book again with NCT. 10/10 for the guys and girls in the office, the ones we don't get to see. The price as well, considering there I'd so many Lorry and Coach Drivers that, like me have left it to the last minute before renewing their CPC Cards. My advice on that one would be to shop around, I did and NCP were by far alot cheaper than most of the others I contacted.

What's the difference between online and classroom training?
Both options deliver the same NFAQ-accredited Level 2 qualification. Online learning is self-paced and can be completed from any device. Do I need to complete Level 1 first?

Your certificate is valid for 3 years. We recommend completing refresher training before your certificate expires to maintain your skills and stay up to date with current best practices.

Yes, both online and classroom courses include assessment. Online learners complete knowledge checks throughout the course. Classroom delegates are assessed through continuous observation and participation in practical activities. There's no formal written exam.
What if I find the content emotionally challenging?
