CPC Courses are, at best boring and at worse not worth the money. Now that I have completed my 5 modules, 4 of which were with Andrew, who has a special way of getting the point of some things into my head, believe me that is no small feat. I have thoroughly enjoyed all modules that NCT arranged for me, plus the fact it is now done via Zoom just helped me to remember it. The whole experience was so simple, right from booking a full 5 day course, to today, where I can say 'no more til next year' same place, different dates.
I wouldn't hesitate to book again with NCT. 10/10 for the guys and girls in the office, the ones we don't get to see. The price as well, considering there I'd so many Lorry and Coach Drivers that, like me have left it to the last minute before renewing their CPC Cards. My advice on that one would be to shop around, I did and NCP were by far alot cheaper than most of the others I contacted.
Thankyou to Andrew, who was my Trainer for 4/5 modules and he is an absolute excellent teacher
Thankyou Guys

A very 'BIG THANK YOU' to my Instructor, who trained me on both Reach Truck and Counter Balance. I passed my Test on both. Instructor is very professional, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend and appreciate for getting my licence done.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a premises licence application take?
The statutory consultation period is 28 days from the date the application is submitted and public notices are displayed. If no representations are received, the licence is usually granted within a few days after this period. If there are representations, a hearing may be required which can add several weeks. Typically, allow 6-8 weeks from submission to receiving your licence.
What is the difference between a premises licence and a personal licence?
A premises licence authorises a specific location to carry out licensable activities (like selling alcohol). A personal licence authorises an individual to supply or authorise the supply of alcohol. If you're selling alcohol, you need both — a premises licence for your venue and at least one personal licence holder (who becomes the Designated Premises Supervisor). We offer the APLH course for personal licences.
Do I need a premises licence to sell alcohol at events?
Not necessarily. For occasional events, you may be able to use a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) instead, which is simpler and cheaper. However, TENs have limitations on duration and attendance. If you're running regular events or a permanent venue, a premises licence is usually required. Contact us to discuss which option is right for your situation.
What are the "responsible authorities" you liaise with?
Responsible authorities include the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Planning Authority, Child Protection services, and the Licensing Authority itself. Each receives a copy of your application and can make representations if they have concerns. We proactively engage with these bodies to address any issues before they become objections.
What is an operating schedule?
The operating schedule is a key part of your application that describes how you will operate your premises to promote the four licensing objectives (prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance, and protection of children from harm). It includes your proposed hours, the activities you'll carry out, and the steps you'll take to operate responsibly. We'll prepare this for you based on your business plans.
What happens if someone objects to my application?
If relevant representations are received during the consultation period, a hearing will be held by the licensing sub-committee. We can advise you on the best approach and, if needed, recommend specialist licensing solicitors to represent you at the hearing. Our proactive liaison with responsible authorities aims to resolve concerns before they become formal representations.
How much does the licensing authority fee cost?
The fee depends on the rateable value of your premises and ranges from £100 to £1,905 for a new premises licence application. There is also an annual fee payable to maintain your licence. We can confirm the exact fee for your premises once we know your rateable value.
Can you help with variations to existing licences?
Yes, we offer a variation service for existing premises licences. This might include changing your hours, adding licensable activities, or amending conditions. The process is similar to a new application but often simpler. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
