About This Course
Our Level 3 Paediatric First Aid course has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. This comprehensive blended programme combines online e-learning with hands-on practical classroom training, giving childcare professionals the knowledge and skills to respond confidently to a wide range of first aid situations involving infants and children.
The course is delivered in two parts: self-paced e-learning modules covering theory and knowledge (which can be completed at your own pace before the classroom day), followed by a practical classroom session where you'll gain hands-on experience using infant and child mannequins. Our experienced instructors create a supportive learning environment where you can build confidence and competence.
EYFS Requirement: Under the EYFS framework, at least one person with a current Paediatric First Aid certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings. Staff who obtained Level 2/3 childcare qualifications after 30 June 2016 must hold a PFA certificate within 3 months of starting work.
Meets All EYFS 2025 & OFSTED Requirements
This course is fully aligned with the updated EYFS 2025 framework and meets the criteria set out in Annex A of the statutory guidance. From September 2025, all registered early years providers must follow the new EYFS framework, making accredited training vital for compliance. Your certificate will be recognised by OFSTED, the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), and employers throughout the UK.

Excellent training organization, My instructor and the rest of the team 10 out of 10. Received my counterbalance and rider truck certificates the same day very fast thanks to the whole team, Excellent prices highly recommend
CPC Courses are, at best boring and at worse not worth the money. Now that I have completed my 5 modules, 4 of which were with Andrew, who has a special way of getting the point of some things into my head, believe me that is no small feat. I have thoroughly enjoyed all modules that NCT arranged for me, plus the fact it is now done via Zoom just helped me to remember it. The whole experience was so simple, right from booking a full 5 day course, to today, where I can say 'no more til next year' same place, different dates. I wouldn't hesitate to book again with NCT. 10/10 for the guys and girls in the office, the ones we don't get to see. The price as well, considering there I'd so many Lorry and Coach Drivers that, like me have left it to the last minute before renewing their CPC Cards. My advice on that one would be to shop around, I did and NCP were by far alot cheaper than most of the others I contacted. Thankyou to Andrew, who was my Trainer for 4/5 modules and he is an absolute excellent teacher Thankyou Guys
A very 'BIG THANK YOU' to my Instructor, who trained me on both Reach Truck and Counter Balance. I passed my Test on both. Instructor is very professional, friendly and helpful. I highly recommend and appreciate for getting my licence done.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Paediatric First Aid and Emergency Paediatric First Aid?
The full Paediatric First Aid course is a 12-hour blended qualification (e-learning plus practical classroom day) covering both emergency situations and a wide range of childhood illnesses and injuries. Emergency Paediatric First Aid is a shorter 6-hour course covering only essential emergency skills. Most early years settings require the full course to meet EYFS requirements, though the emergency course may be accepted in some circumstances.
Do I need Paediatric First Aid to work in a nursery?
Yes. Under the EYFS framework, at least one person with a current Paediatric First Aid certificate must be on the premises at all times when children are present. If you obtained a Level 2 or 3 childcare qualification after 30 June 2016, you must hold a PFA certificate within 3 months of starting work to be included in staff:child ratios.
Is this course suitable for primary school staff?
Yes, this course is suitable for anyone working with children. However, if your school also has adult staff or visitors on site, you may also need someone with an adult first aid qualification (EFAW or FAW). We offer combined Paediatric + EFAW courses for settings that need both qualifications.
How long is the certificate valid?
Your Paediatric First Aid certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of successful completion. To continue meeting EYFS requirements, you must renew your certificate before it expires. We recommend booking a refresher course in good time to avoid any gaps in certification.
What's included in the course fee?
The fee includes access to our online e-learning platform, all practical training materials, use of infant and child mannequins, first aid equipment for practical exercises, refreshments at our venue, and your accredited certificate. Assessment is through online knowledge checks during e-learning and continuous practical observation during the classroom day.
