Do you cover reach truck alongside counterbalance as a secondary category?
Yes. NCT can structure delivery at your Walsall site with counterbalance as the primary category and reach truck as a conversion element, covering the different operating techniques and risk controls for each.
Can you deliver training around a 24/7 operation?

Scheduling depends on availability and delegate numbers, but NCT aims to minimise lead times for sites in and around Walsall. Contact us with your requirements and we will confirm the earliest available date.
Instructor Application
×Walsall’s economy was built on manufacturing and it still shows: the borough remains a dense patchwork of engineering firms, metalworking shops, trade counters and, increasingly, logistics operations drawn to the land around Junction 10 of the M6. Our RTITB-registered instructors deliver forklift training on-site across all of it, from single-truck workshops in Aldridge to multi-shift distribution units on the motorway corridor.
Where we train in and around Walsall
The strongest demand comes from two clusters. The first is the M6 Junction 10 corridor, where developments such as Reedswood Park and the recently completed warehouses at Leftfield Park are aimed squarely at urban logistics and warehousing occupiers. The second is Aldridge, whose long-established estates, Beecham Business Park, Westgate and Westpoint among them, house a mix of distribution, vehicle and furniture businesses alongside the area’s traditional manufacturers.
The town’s employer base reflects that blend of retail logistics and head-office operations: Walsall is home to the headquarters of Poundland, AF Blakemore and One Stop Stores, with HomeServe and the RAC also major local names. Businesses like these, and the hundreds of suppliers and hauliers around them, keep a lot of lift trucks working, and every one of those trucks legally requires an adequately trained operator.
Why Walsall firms choose on-site training
Sending operators away for training means lost shifts and travel costs. We reverse the arrangement: an instructor comes to your Walsall premises with everything needed to run an accredited RTITB course, and your people train on the equipment, loads and floor layouts they use daily. For employers near the M6 that also means operators are tested in realistic conditions, shared yards, HGV traffic, tight dock areas, rather than an empty training hall.
Walsall is roughly thirty miles from our Nuneaton centre, an easy run along the M6, so our trainers cover the borough regularly. Novice, experienced-operator and refresher courses are all available, along with conversion training when you introduce a new truck type to the fleet.
What you need to provide
Surprisingly little. A serviceable truck of the relevant type, a training area that can be segregated from normal operations, and somewhere dry for the theory sessions. We bring the syllabus materials, test equipment and all certification paperwork, and we register successful candidates on the RTITB NORS database before we leave.
How many operators can you train in one visit?
RTITB rules cap practical courses at three candidates per instructor per truck, which protects the amount of hands-on driving time each person gets. For larger teams we run consecutive groups across a block booking, which most Walsall employers find more economical than multiple separate visits.
Can training run on night shifts?
Yes. Where your operation runs around the clock we schedule courses to match, including evening and night sessions, so you are not pulling night-shift operators in during their rest time.
Is refresher training a legal requirement?
The HSE’s guidance (L117) recommends refresher training or reassessment rather than fixing a strict interval, but most insurers and safety auditors expect it every three to five years. We provide one-day refreshers that bring certification fully up to date.
