Hayley Group
The Challenge
When Hayley Group approached National Compliance Training in early 2026, its branch network presented a set of challenges that a conventional course-by-course approach could not solve:
- A mixed truck fleet across branches: counterbalance, pivot steer (articulated), reach truck, VNA and high-level order picker
- Small operator groups per site, typically one to three delegates, with a mixture of novice, refresher and conversion needs
- Branches spread across the country, from Falkirk and Seaham to Exeter and Kent
- A need to keep branch staff on the floor rather than sending them away for long periods
- One consistent RTITB standard and one point of contact for the whole group
Our Solution
National Compliance Training built a branch-by-branch programme around the group’s geography and equipment:
- Local instructor allocation: every branch was mapped to a regional RTITB-registered instructor who returns for each visit, so the branch sees the same face and the same standard
- Right-sized on-site courses: short courses sized to the branch, mixing novice and refresher work in the same visit where the ratio allows
- Full truck coverage: counterbalance, pivot steer, reach truck, VNA and high-level order picker training delivered on the branch’s own equipment
- Responsive support: VNA familiarisation and same-week remedial sessions when a branch identifies a specific operator concern
- Central coordination: a single account contact for the group, with scheduling, certificates and records handled centrally
The Results
14 Branches Under One Standard: consistent RTITB certification delivered across 14 branches within eight months, including Manchester, Derby, Wolverhampton, Halesowen, Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, Andover, Exeter, Seaham and Kent.
43 Courses and 73 Operator Certificates: delivered by eight regionally allocated instructors, covering novice, refresher and conversion routes across five truck types.
Minimal Time Off the Floor: courses sized to each branch and delivered on site, so operators were trained and back at work without the disruption of travelling to an external centre.
Documented Remedial Route: where a branch raised a concern about an individual operator, a same-week remedial session with a written outcome gave the branch a clear record for its health and safety file.
Ongoing Partnership
The programme is now a rolling one, with a forward schedule of training booked into late 2026 and beyond:
- Refresher training scheduled ahead of certificate expiry at every branch
- Novice and conversion courses added as branches recruit or change their truck fleet
- Further branches being brought into the programme as the group extends coverage
- One point of contact for the whole network, with records and certificates held centrally
