Tamworth In-House Forklift Training FAQs
Can you train operators working with heavy attachments and crane-adjacent operations in Tamworth?
Yes. NCT delivers training for high-capacity counterbalance operations with attachments including coil rams, rotating clamps and sideshifters, as well as safe working practices near overhead cranes — relevant to steel and fabrication environments in Tamworth.
Can operators be trained on attachments such as rotating clamps and coil rams?
Yes. NCT delivers attachment-specific training for sites near Tamworth, including rotating clamps, coil rams and sideshifters, with emphasis on pre-use checks, load stability assessment and safe working near overhead cranes.
Is training available for operators who have lapsed certification?
Yes. NCT delivers programmes for operators whose certification has lapsed, assessing current competence and structuring the programme to meet refresher or novice requirements as appropriate.
Can certification be renewed before it formally expires?
Yes. NCT recommends scheduling refresher training ahead of expiry to avoid certification lapses — particularly for operators in high-risk or audit-sensitive environments where continuity of records is important.
Is training delivery from NCT consistent regardless of which Tamworth site we book?
Yes. NCT delivers to a consistent standard across all sites, meaning that operators at different Tamworth-area facilities within the same organisation receive equivalent training and assessment.
Instructor Application
×Tamworth is our nearest neighbour. The A5 runs almost door to door between our Nuneaton CV11 training centre and the town, a journey of roughly 12 miles that our instructors can make in around 20 minutes. That proximity means Tamworth employers get the easiest scheduling in our entire catchment, whether that is an on-site course at your premises or operators joining a course at our centre.
From Birch Coppice to the Tame Valley: who we train in Tamworth
For a modest-sized town, Tamworth punches far above its weight in logistics, largely thanks to Junction 10 of the M42. Our RTITB-accredited instructors deliver forklift training for operations on and around:
- Birch Coppice Business Park at Dordon, beside M42 Junction 10, one of the region’s biggest rail-served logistics sites, whose occupiers have included Ocado, Volkswagen Group, UPS and Euro Car Parts’ national distribution centre
- Centurion Park, the 21-acre big-shed logistics site adjacent to the same junction
- Tame Valley Industrial Estate at Wilnecote, including the Ninian Park and Falcon Park units
- Darwell Park at Amington and the other B77 trade and warehouse estates
The mix matters. Birch Coppice sheds run high-reach racking and large counterbalance fleets, while the smaller Wilnecote and Amington units tend towards single-truck operations and trade counters. We train for both ends of that spectrum, from multi-day novice courses to one-day refreshers.
Your site or ours: Tamworth gets a genuine choice
For towns further out, on-site delivery is usually the only sensible option. Tamworth is different. Because our training centre is just down the A5, sending one or two operators to us is a realistic alternative to hosting a course, with no overnight stays and barely more commuting than their normal drive to work. Larger groups still favour on-site delivery, where we train on your trucks in your warehouse; for that we need a serviceable truck, a level practical area of around 30 metres by 10 metres, and a quiet space for theory. Either way, successful candidates come away registered on NORS, the National Operator Registration Scheme.
The short run up the A5 also makes us a practical partner for the constant certification churn that big distribution parks generate, including new-starter basics, expiring refreshers and conversions when a site changes its fleet.
Do you charge travel for on-site forklift training in Tamworth?
Tamworth is the closest town to our base, around 20 minutes along the A5, so on-site delivery carries no accommodation or overnight costs whatsoever. It is as close to local delivery as on-site training gets.
Which truck types do Tamworth employers usually need?
Counterbalance remains the most requested course, with reach truck a strong second from the racked warehouses around M42 Junction 10. We also certify operators on pallet trucks and other categories, and we can cover mixed fleets across a single visit.
Can individual operators from Tamworth join a course at your Nuneaton centre?
Yes. This is the option we suggest when a Tamworth firm has only one or two candidates, since the centre is an easy daily commute from any B77 or B78 postcode. You get the same RTITB course and NORS registration without needing to free up space on your own site.
