In-House Forklift & MHE Training in Derby
We deliver RTITB-aligned forklift and MHE training directly at client premises in Derby and across the wider East Midlands. Our instructors regularly support warehouse, manufacturing and distribution environments operating within this strategically connected industrial region.
Training visits to Derby regularly cover premises at established business locations including Chellaston Business Park and Pride Park, where site-specific hazards such as racking layouts, narrow aisles and shared vehicle routes form the basis for tailored risk-led delivery.
Each programme is structured to reflect your operational risk profile — from equipment types and site layout to shift patterns and workforce turnover. Delivery is on-site, practical and produces the documented operator records your compliance framework requires.

Instructor Application
×Forklift operator training for Derby’s manufacturing heartland
Derby is a manufacturing city first and a distribution city second, and that shapes the forklift training it needs. Around the Rolls-Royce aerospace campus at Sinfin and the Toyota plant at Burnaston sits a dense supply chain of component makers, packers and logistics firms, almost all of them moving materials on lift trucks. Our instructors train operators at sites across the city, including the estates where that supply chain lives:
- Sinfin Commercial Park, the multi-let industrial and logistics estate a couple of miles south of the city centre, close to the Rolls-Royce campus
- Derby Commercial Park on Raynesway, developed as a major regional hub for storage and distribution
- Infinity Park Derby, the business park beside Rolls-Royce at Sinfin with its own link to the A50
- Pride Park and the surrounding DE24 industrial corridor
Manufacturing environments bring their own handling challenges, from long loads and engine components to congested yards shared with HGV movements. Because the training happens on your premises with your equipment, the course reflects those realities rather than an idealised warehouse layout.
How on-site delivery works in Derby
We come to you. National Compliance Training is based in Nuneaton, around 32 miles south of Derby, which puts the whole city within a comfortable morning drive via the A444 and A38 or the M42 and A50. Trainers arrive at your site each day, so courses in Derby run without any accommodation costs, and multi-day novice programmes are easy to schedule around production shifts.
To host training you need three things: a truck that is serviceable and insured, a clear and reasonably level area of roughly 30 metres by 10 metres for the practical exercises, and somewhere quiet for theory and the written test. A corner of the warehouse, a yard or even a car park section coned off for the duration all work. We will confirm the layout with you before the first day.
How long does a forklift course take for operators in Derby?
It depends on experience. Complete novices typically need several days to reach test standard, experienced but uncertified operators need less, and existing certificate holders can complete a refresher in a single day. We will recommend the right duration once we know each candidate’s background, so you are not paying for training days your team does not need.
We run a 24-hour operation near the A50. Can you train around shifts?
Yes. A lot of Derby’s manufacturing and distribution runs continuous shifts, and we regularly structure courses so that operators train either side of handovers or across consecutive early shifts. Tell us your shift pattern and we will build the course schedule around it rather than asking you to pull a whole team off the floor at once.
Is the training RTITB accredited?
It is. We are an RTITB-accredited provider, and candidates who pass are registered on the National Operator Registration Scheme, which is the standard most large Derby manufacturers and their insurers expect to see. The same accreditation covers novice, refresher and conversion courses.
