In-House Forklift & MHE Training in Nottingham
We deliver RTITB-aligned forklift and MHE training directly at client premises in Nottingham and across the wider East Midlands. Our instructors regularly support warehouse, manufacturing and distribution environments operating within this strategically connected industrial region.
Regular training visits to sites around Castle Boulevard Industrial Estate and Queens Drive Industrial Estate reflect the varied operational environments found across Nottingham. Racking configurations, traffic management layouts and shift patterns differ between premises, and delivery is adapted to reflect those working conditions.
Training delivery is adapted to the specific equipment, risk environment and workforce profile at your site. Programmes produce documented operator competence records that meet RTITB-alignment requirements and support long-term compliance management.

Nottingham In-House Forklift Training FAQs
Do you deliver training within automotive supply chain environments in Nottingham?
Yes. NCT regularly supports Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive suppliers across Nottingham and the surrounding area, including production-line feeds, component handling and internal shuttle operations.
Can counterbalance yard operations and reach truck work be covered in the same visit?
Yes. NCT delivers programmes at sites near Nottingham that span both yard counterbalance work and internal reach truck operations, covering the transition between environments and the different risk profiles each presents.
Can training be phased to avoid disruption to live operations?
Yes. NCT structures delivery around shift patterns, production schedules and throughput requirements — including split-group arrangements to ensure operational cover is maintained throughout.
Is there a minimum standard operators must meet to receive certification?
Yes. Operators are assessed against a defined practical and theory competency standard. Certification is only issued to candidates who demonstrate safe and competent operation across all required elements.
Is NCT experienced working with the types of industry common in the Nottingham area?
Yes. NCT has broad experience across the industrial sectors well-represented in and around Nottingham, adapting training delivery to reflect the specific equipment, layouts and compliance requirements of each site.
Instructor Application
×From Great Bear’s 208,000 square foot distribution centre on Blenheim Industrial Estate to the parcel and pallet operations clustered at Colwick, Nottingham moves a remarkable amount of freight for a city better known for Boots and bicycles. Every one of those operations depends on certified lift truck operators, and that is where we come in. National Compliance Training delivers RTITB-accredited forklift courses at employer premises across Nottingham and the wider NG postcode area, with our instructors travelling up from our Nuneaton training centre, around 39 miles and under an hour away via the M1 and A453.
Nottingham’s forklift workplaces, from Bulwell to Colwick
The city’s industrial land wraps around its edges, and we train operators across all of it:
- Blenheim Industrial Estate in Bulwell, NG6, where occupiers have included Great Bear, DPD and Bunzl
- Colwick Industrial Estate, NG4, east of the city, with logistics names such as Kuehne & Nagel and Park Logistics alongside manufacturers like Hillarys Blinds
- Queens Drive Industrial Estate, NG2, the long-established estate south of the centre near the trade-counter corridor
- The Boots campus at Beeston and its surrounding enterprise zone, where health and beauty production sits beside large-scale warehousing
Whether your operators drive counterbalance trucks in a yard at Colwick or reach trucks in narrow racking at Bulwell, the course is run on your equipment in your environment, which is precisely what the RTITB basic operator framework is designed for.
What a course at your Nottingham site looks like
An instructor arrives with everything needed to run the course: training materials, test paperwork and registration with NORS, the National Operator Registration Scheme, on successful completion. Your side of the arrangement is the practical ground, typically a clear, level area of around 30 metres by 10 metres, a serviceable truck of the type being certified, and a quiet space for theory sessions. Courses are built around your head count and experience mix, so novices, refreshers and conversions can be handled across the same visit where the numbers justify it.
Do you cover the whole of Nottingham, or just the city centre?
The whole conurbation and beyond. Bulwell, Colwick, Beeston, West Bridgford, Arnold, Long Eaton and the M1 corridor sites around Junctions 24 to 26 are all routine visits for us, and we also cover the rest of Nottinghamshire. If you are anywhere in an NG postcode, we can deliver on-site.
Can forklift training run at weekends in Nottingham?
Often, yes. Many Nottingham distribution sites find it easier to release operators on a Saturday than mid-week, and we schedule weekend and shift-pattern delivery where our instructor diary allows. Raise it when you enquire and we will confirm what is available for your dates.
My operators hold counterbalance certificates but we have bought reach trucks. What do they need?
A conversion course rather than a full novice programme. Because the candidates already understand lift truck principles, conversion training focuses on the handling characteristics of the new truck type and typically takes far less time than starting from scratch, ending with a test and NORS registration for the additional category.
